Art Exhibit by Ben Bloch
During October and November, The Public House will feature recent work by Montana artist Ben Bloch, with an opening reception on Friday, October 7 from 6-8 pm. Constructed from a combination of memory and observation, Bloch’s paintings reveal both the material qualities of paint and the inherent tensions of the modern western landscape—a landscape continually altered by roads, fences, and other infrastructure.
Ben Bloch studied painting at the University of Montana before launching the experimental art space Goatsilk Gallery in Missoula (2002-2005). He recently completed an artist’s residency in Virginia City for “Reimagine Montana,” an ongoing project funded by the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Park Service with the Montana Preservation Alliance.
